Lab at Home ("we", "us", "our") is a diagnostic laboratory and a Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). This policy is our notice to you, the Data Principal. It explains what personal data we collect, why, who sees it and how you can control it. We handle it in line with the DPDP Act and Rules, the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and medicalconfidentiality norms. It applies to www.labathome.in, our collection centres and our home-visit services. We do not sell your personal data.

  • To prepare and deliver your reports by hard copy, email or WhatsApp.
  • To contact you about your booking, report or follow-up.
  • To prepare invoices, receipts and accounting records.

We do not use your health information for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only where needed to provide the service or where the law requires it:

  • The doctor or hospital named on your test request.
  • Our laboratory management software, eLab Assist, which stores our records for us under confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Payment and messaging services (such as UPI or card processors and WhatsApp), only as needed to take your payment and send your report.
  • Government or regulatory authorities and courts, when legally required, including the PCPNDT Appropriate Authority, which may inspect sonography records.

We do not sell or rent your personal information and do not share it with any other outside party.

5. Report delivery

Reports are sent to the phone number or email address you give us, including through WhatsApp. Please give us accurate details and tell us if you want a report sent only as hard copy or to a different person. Messaging and email services are provided by third parties, and we cannot control their security.

6. Consent

We process your personal data only for the purposes in section 3, with your consent or where the law allows. You give consent by a clear action, such as booking a test, signing a registration or consent form, or giving a sample. You may consent separately to optional uses, such as reminders. You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by calling or emailing us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already done, and we may then be unable to perform or deliver your tests. We may also process data without consent where the law permits, for example to respond to a medical emergency, to comply with a legal obligation or court order, or to provide a service you have asked for.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes in section 3 and as required by law, medical-records norms and accreditation rules. We keep test records and reports in our system from the date we started, for as long as needed for your care, medical-records norms and legal requirements. You may ask us to erase your data, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it. Records of pregnancy-related sonography, including consent and Form F, are kept for the period required by the PCPNDT Act and Rules. Samples are kept only for the period needed for testing and repeat checks, then disposed of as biomedical waste under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016.

8. Security

We use reasonable security safeguards to protect personal data, including access limited to staff who need it, password-protected systems, secure storage and staff confidentiality training. Our service providers who handle data for us are bound by confidentiality and security obligations. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform the affected persons and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete information we no longer need to keep.
  • Stop non-essential communication.

You may also ask for a summary of your personal data and the persons we have shared it with, and nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapable. Write to labathomemulund@gmail.com. We may verify your identity first and will respond within the time the law requires. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India after first using our grievance process in section 13.

10. Children

A person under 18 is a child under the DPDP Act. For patients under 18, and for patients with a disability who cannot decide for themselves, we obtain verifiable consent from the parent or lawful guardian before processing their data. We do not track or monitor the behaviour of children or show them targeted advertising.

11. Cookies and third-party links

Our website does not use cookies or analytics tools. Links to other sites (such as Google Maps, Google Reviews or Facebook) are governed by those sites' own policies.
